OECD: Financial resources invested in Education

OECD countries spend $10,500 a year on educational institutions to educate each student from primary to tertiary education.

Education at glance 2018 is an OECD report that notes that expenditure per student on educational institutions is largely influenced by teachers’ salaries, pension systems, instructional and teaching hours, the cost of teaching materials and facilities, the programme provided and the number of students enrolled in the education system.

In 2015, OECD countries spent an average of 5% of their gross domestic product (GDP) on educational institutions from primary to tertiary levels.

However, with tightening public budgets, many educational systems are turning more towards the private sector for additional investment.
